you know what i love about the internet is the fact that no one really gives a fuck about age gaps i mean i’m 19 and one of my best friends on here is 14 can you even imagine how weird people irl would think that is but online it’s like nope be friends with whoever the fuck you want absolutely nothing holds you back it’s just an amazing thing ok
I think age gaps in friendships are really only remarkable and seem strange and weird to teens and kids in college, because typically you’ve only been associating with people who are within a couple years of your own age. Once you get out into the world beyond school, especially in a career, you start interacting with people who might be a lot older or younger on a daily basis, and it’s not unusual to make friends who are well outside your age group. Some of the women I used to work with who were in their 60’s (or roughly my mother’s age) were more fun to talk to than people my age or younger lol.
My best friend at work actually refuses to tell anyone her true age, but she’s roughly ten years older than me. Of my other two closest work-friends, one’s 14 years older and the other is 25 years older. And it doesn’t seem strange or weird to any of us, because once you’re an adult it really *doesn’t matter*. There is hope for the future for age-differing friendships!
Actually I find people more accepting of inter-age friendship offline than online - my offline friends think it very odd that of my three best friends on tumblr, one is about fifteen years older than me, one about fifteen years younger, and one just a few years younger. But you should all stop being so awesome if you don’t want me to like you so much :D
